Petrobrazi Refinery
With an annual refining capacity of 4.5 MN tons/year of crude oil, Petrobrazi is one of the most important refineries in Romania.
At Petrobrazi, crude oil is processed and transformed into a wide range of high value petroleum products: from gasoline, diesel, LPG, to aviation fuel and other petroleum products. Currently, Petrobrazi operates at high environmental and performance standards and can process the entire equity crude oil production of OMV Petrom.
History
The history of Petrobrazi refinery began in 1934 when Creditul Minier refinery was set up, with a refining capacity of 300,000 tons/year.
Almost entirely destroyed in the Second World War, the refinery has been rebuilt and reconfigured throughout the years, reflecting the market context and shareholders’ strategy.
Petrobrazi refinery benefited from investments of more than EUR 2 billion in modernization projects starting 2005.

- 2023: General turnaround
- 2021-2023: Replacement of coke drums
- 2020: Increase of bio-blending capacity
- 2019: Completion of new polyfuels unit and coker closed blowdown system
- 2016 & 2018: General turnaround
- 2012-2014: Modernization program
